RRP2 Update #1- And so it begins!

Posted by jm764 on May 28, 2014 at 4:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Still thinking about the offical title, but I got all the resources I need to begin working on the game.

For now I'm thinking of using the upcoming trainsportation game Train Fever as a base to develop the game off of before creating our own gameplay engine.

Basically I'm going to start the game off as a mod to TF then make it its own stand alone game.

Now I'm going start working on the American vehicles, buildings, and scenarios/campaings since I'm not American, but it's the easiest thing for me to research and model since I live here.

Don't worry I'm doing the UK, Europe, Asia, Afica, Canada, Mexico and South America as well, I'll just do them after I finish the American campaigns.

Anyway if you guys want to help just go here: http://railroadpioneer.webs.com/apps/blog/entries/show/41836841-wanna-join-the-rrp2-dev-team-

Hopefully I'll make an update every week or so and amybe I'll have something to show for it by the 2nd or third one! ;)

Anyway I got to go now. Bye everyone!

Good news and bad news...

Posted by jm764 on February 17, 2014 at 9:10 AM Comments comments (1)

The GOOD news is my game programing skills have improved tremendously as well as my 3d modeling!

The Bad news is that I won't be able to make an "expansion pack" to the game since I can't find all the software used to make the game. Guess it renders the poll "useless" huh? ^_^;

But I'm still going to make the game either way using unity, since I'm learning how to program with it in my game dev class. Also I plan on porting it to other devices after the PC version is done.

Anyway, I'm going to post alot of new polls later this week as a tech survey to see what system requierments I need to optimize first so I can plan my code around it.

Anyway, bye guys!

Railroad Pioneer 2/II: The Fan Game Poll

Posted by jm764 on January 14, 2014 at 9:40 PM Comments comments (2)

Title's still being thought through, but that's not really important for now.

But what is, is the poll I made for what type of game RP2 should be.

Please vote, I can't trully start planing what will be in the game till this fundamental question is answered... But just go to the link below and vote please.

I'll "close" the poll 1 month from now.

Thanks!

A DECADE OF RAILROAD PIONEER

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on January 11, 2014 at 4:00 PM Comments comments (1)

Hello there all fans, members and supporters!

We now reached the time that we can say:
"HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY RAI
LROAD PIONEER!"

Yeah, it's true! This game was released over
a decade ago. I myself cannot really believe
how fast time is running, especially after
having alot of detailed mem
ories about how
I heard about the game from a friend, how
I recieved it and how I played it until I finished
the campaign mode. I got the game in 2006,
when I attended 5th grade in school and I can
hardly believe this happened almost 8 years ago.
Not only that it was fun to play when you knew
how to, but it also told me alot about the history
of the wild wild west and the evolution of railroads.
Without them we would probably look pretty poor
these days.

It is certain that the game was released
on the 17th of October 2003 in Germany.
So, as I write this entry the game's release dates
back exactly 3739 days OR 534 weeks & a day.
Although, for example in the US and other
countries, the release was settled later for 2004.

But not only the game is getting a bit "older",
also our fansite started over 4 years ago
on the 1st of January 2010. Therefore I
planned some new u
pdates. As you see
I still come here regularly and check what
we can improve or change inorder to make
the site as informative and useful as possible.

In all those years technology has also changed.
I incorporated a little update for all users that
want to visit the site on the go with their mobile
devices such as smartphones or tablets. It is now
possible to visit our site in a better looking downgraded
mobile version for lower internet connections by ensuring
that our typica
l features such as the Forums or the Blog
are included as well. As long as  you got a good internet
connection with your mobile machine you can also
still enjoy the  site in full effect (normal desktop version)
without the cause of too long loading times.

Overall I am very happy to see loads of fans
from around the globe visit the site and share
their knowledge and experience towards the game.
We still got some updates & ideas we want to realize
for this 10th anniversary year and remember
to share some of your best memories regarding
the game in any way (just like I did) with a
comment on this entry.

See y'all,

Howdy' folks, jm764 here!

Has it really been almost 4 years since Railroad Pioneer ( Founder /Administrator) and I (The Co-Founder) started this site? Time sure does fly fast!

The site's grown alot over the years, has gone through many changes, and even had a former member of the game's development team join and discuss his work on the game.

Sadly the site has been lossing attention and seems to be inactive for months at a time.

But hopefully things will pick up again after I unveil my "secret project"...

What is it? Well you'll have to comeback on the site\s 4th aniversery to find out! ^_^

See you then!

10 years of Railroad Pioneer in 2013!

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on July 19, 2013 at 6:05 PM Comments comments (2)

Hi to all loyal fans out there!
The last entry I made here is almost 1 year old by now.
The reason for that long break is a truly stressful year
I had to handle. But the good news is that I'm now
finally finished with school after 12 years.

I haven't forgot about the site and all the people
that were or are still involved in helping me with
this project. Since the official website of the game
may never return, we became the most valuable
site that is dedicated to this PC game in the past
3,5 years. I'm still checking the site regularly
and sometimes I'm surprised how much fans
are still out there. It is a real shame we may
never be able to play a sequel.

I'd also want to thank members of the RP
production team for their kind comments
on our site. They wer also pretty surprised
to see a fansite growing even after 2010. ^^

Now that we are in the middle of 2013 you
don't need to fear we'll stop working on this
successful fan project. New ideas are in the
works to get published towards the end of
the year when Railroad Pioneer reaches its
10th birthday. Of course we gotta celebrate
that a little with special new features.

See y'all for the next exiting news.

General Update - June 2012

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on June 4, 2012 at 7:25 PM Comments comments (7)

Good day to all followers! :)

Just wanted to keep you updated, cuz I havn't added
new content to the site the past months.
I basically did some advertising on forums & shops
dealing with Railroad Pioneer for the site, so we got a few new members.
At the moment I don't play RP but I plan to get the rest of the medals
to get all 30 and finaly become a veteran of this game ^^

Also keep an eye on the site in 2013 as the game
will be 10 years old then already & of course
we gotta celebrate that ;)

Another sign that there are still fans of RP is
the project of an Austrian fella on YouTube.
He's doing a full length Let's Play of the campaign.
Of course only German speaking companions
understand what he's talking about
but I simply wanted to share the game footage for all of you.
The latest of his RP videos is this one:

http://youtu.be/2o8Pck5fzW8

That's it for now,
Good bye all RP fans! =)

Some Good News! : )

Good evening all you followers! ;)
It's about half past midnight (:D)here in Germany.
I hope I'm still good at writing english atm, after such a party
to start the weekend.

There are some good news regarding to the JoWood forum.
It's back up under the new name of the company.
The publisher is now called nordic games.
The english RP forum can be found here:

http://forum.nordicgames.at/forumdisplay.php?373-Railroad-Pioneer-English-Board

The official RP website is still not online.
Let's hope it'll be back some time.

General Update About What's Going On

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on February 5, 2012 at 3:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Hello dear community!

I just wanted to give a short update about the site and
Railroad Pioneer in general.

I'm deeply sorry that there isn't that much new stuff on the site already!
I know I said I wanted to add some information & maybe a new design.
The thing is that some things didn't worked when I was trying to
do something new by adding some codes to the site, so I was a bit frustraded
at first & stopped working then about 3 weeks ago.

There was also another idea that came up in my mind.
I knew that Chris Noeth, the art designer for RP, is still
pretty active on the net & I wanted to ask him if there is
still some art from the making of the game or maybe screenshots
that he saved on disks or even his computer that we could use in our gallery.
He was surprised when I told him about our site but
sadly he doesn't have any graphics or works from back then anymore.
I later saw that he made a comment on a blog entry:

The last thing is that the homepage of Railroad Pioneer
is still not available, as well as the JoWood forums.
I hope these two sites will once turn back.

See ya,

Had Some Problems With My Internet

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on January 18, 2012 at 9:40 AM Comments comments (2)

Hey guys/girls & members. ^^
The last two weeks have been terrible a bit.
My internet didn't work for some reason all the time...
Now the problem is solved and I'm back.

My new project is to get all 30 medals in the campaign mode
of RP. I once heard that there's a special surprise you get
when you have all of them.

-- See ya!

Happy Birthday To The Site!!

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on January 1, 2012 at 5:50 PM Comments comments (4)

It's the 01.01.2012.
Celebration time!!

On new years day 2010, me and JM started
our Railroad Pioneer fansite,
after mailing each other on YouTube.

We quiet spent some time editing and
updating the site since then.
Although I weren't active all the time,
JM and Basss always did a great job as
moderators and I'm glad they're still
supporting the site.

Another thing that turned out pretty great
is the amount of members (69 at the moment)
and the response from visitors (2767 Klicks).

There are also some sad news...
the official website of Railroad Pioneer
was taken down a few weeks ago
because the publisher JoWood is going out of buisness
as the firm was bought by another company
after financial problems.
The sites are getting updated
and hopefully the Railroad Pioneer website
will also return.

I hope our site is still online in another 2 years,
as well as some members,
even if we'll not find that much time
to play RP.

Well, that's it for now...
See ya...

2nd Anniversary on 01.01.2012

Posted by Railroad Pioneer on August 29, 2011 at 6:50 PM Comments comments (1)

I'm not that active at the moment.
But I'll give you a little promise.
On January the 1st of 2012 the fansite
exists for already 2 years!
I'll think of a special event to celebrate that.
But I'm not sure how that's gonna look like at the moment.
